The short version: we don’t use advertising or analytics cookies, and we don’t set any cookies of our own. We only keep what the website and studio need in your browser, like keeping you signed in and saving your projects.
1. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Websites can also save information in your browser in other ways, such as “local storage”, “session storage” and “IndexedDB”. The law treats all of these the same way: under the applicable ePrivacy rules, including (for UK visitors) the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and (for EU visitors) the ePrivacy Directive as applied in your country, a website needs your consent to use them, unless they are strictly necessary for a service you asked for.
2. What we use
Prism Mapper doesn’t set any cookies of its own, and doesn’t use any advertising, analytics or tracking cookies or technologies. We don’t use Google Analytics or similar tools, social media trackers or ad networks.
We use browser storage only for things that are needed for the website and studio to work, or to remember a choice you made, such as keeping you signed in, saving your projects and remembering your currency. These are listed below.
3. On the website (prismmapper.com)
| Name | Type | What it’s for | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
gotrue.user | Local storage | Keeps you signed in (your Netlify Identity sign-in token and basic account details). Strictly necessary. | Until you log out or clear your browser data |
prism.afterLogin | Local storage | Remembers where to take you after signing in (for example, to checkout or the studio) while you confirm your email or sign in with Google. Strictly necessary. | Removed when used; ignored after 24 hours |
prism-currency | Local storage | Remembers the currency you picked on the pricing page. Only set if you choose one yourself. | Until you clear your browser data |
prism-geo-currency | Session storage | Remembers the currency for your country for this visit, so we don’t have to look it up on every page. | Until you close the tab |
4. In the studio (app.prismmapper.com)
| Name | Type | What it’s for | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
pm.session | Local storage | Keeps you signed in to the studio. Strictly necessary. | 30 days, renewed while you use the studio; removed when you log out |
| Your projects and media | IndexedDB and origin private file system | Saves your projects, images, videos, songs and AI clips in your own browser. This is how the studio saves your work. Strictly necessary. | Until you delete them or clear your browser data |
pm.* settings | Local and session storage | Remembers your studio settings and choices, such as panel layout, view options, preview quality, recent looks, your MIDI and OSC choices, the devices at your projector and the current session with your phone. Needed for features you use. | Until you change them or clear your browser data (session ones: until you close the tab) |
| App files and AI model files | Service worker and Cache Storage | Stores the studio’s own files so it loads quickly and can open without a connection, and keeps the room-scanning AI model so it isn’t downloaded again. | Until the studio updates or you clear your browser data |
5. Other companies’ pages
Some steps take you to other companies’ own pages, which set their own cookies:
- Stripe: checkout and Manage billing open on Stripe’s pages (checkout.stripe.com and billing.stripe.com). Stripe uses cookies there that are needed to take payments securely and prevent fraud. See Stripe’s cookie policy at stripe.com/cookies-policy/legal.
- Google: if you choose “Continue with Google”, you sign in on Google’s pages, which use Google’s own cookies. See policies.google.com/technologies/cookies.
We don’t control these cookies, and they are not set on our website. Our website doesn’t load Stripe’s or Google’s scripts on its own pages.
6. Why there’s no cookie banner
Because everything we use is either strictly necessary for the service you asked for, or only remembers a choice you made yourself, the law doesn’t require us to ask for consent, so we don’t show a cookie banner. If we ever add anything that isn’t strictly necessary, such as analytics, we’ll update this policy and ask for your consent first.
7. Controlling storage
You can see and delete cookies and site data in your browser’s settings. If you block or clear storage for our sites, you’ll be logged out, your currency choice will be forgotten, and, in the studio, your saved projects and media will be deleted, so export anything you want to keep first.
