Projects, saving and backups
Keep your work safe, move it to another computer and understand where it lives.
Autosave is your working copy
The editor saves changes into this browser. Saving means a write is still in progress. Saved means the local write completed; it does not mean you have a separate backup. If saving fails, keep the editor open, free space and try again. The backup dialog saves pending changes before preparing its archive and stops if that save fails.
The address is part of your storage
Your projects belong to this browser profile and this exact website origin: protocol, hostname and port. http://localhost:8787, a public tunnel address and another port each have separate storage. Changing address can make a project list look empty without deleting the original. Return to the original address and browser profile to find it. A new tunnel link does not move projects automatically.
Make a checked backup
- On the project home page, choose the project's Export action. In an open project, open the top-bar status light, then Pre-show check & backups.
- The backup check lists missing looks, media and scan files. Restore or remove those references before downloading. It checks every scene, cue and timeline song, including assets that are not currently visible.
- Choose Download .pmproj. Check your browser's Downloads list and keep the file somewhere separate from this browser.
- Before an important show, import the archive into a disposable browser profile and rehearse it. File presence is checked automatically; correct decoding, sound and alignment still need rehearsal.
| Included | Separate |
|---|---|
| Project settings, shapes, scenes, cues, timelines, scan blobs and referenced custom looks, images, videos and songs. | Unused media, unrelated projects and your whole personal pack library. Export packs separately. |
Last export records when this browser prepared a download. It cannot confirm that the browser saved the file or that a remote copy exists. A newer-changes notice means your current project has changed since that export.
Move or restore a project
- Download the checked archive from the original address/profile.
- Open prism on the destination computer or address. Choose Import project on the home page and select the archive.
- If that project already exists, the import creates another project with “(imported)” in its name.
- Open every scene, play songs and clips, and reconnect and recheck each projector. Display placement, browser permissions and physical alignment are not portable guarantees.
Space, persistence and recovery
The home page and pre-show panel show this site's approximate storage usage and allowance, when the browser exposes them. Keep storage on this device requests persistent storage; the browser decides whether to grant it. This reduces automatic eviction but cannot prevent manual deletion or device failure.
When space is low, first make a backup, then remove genuinely unused media or old projects. The editor also keeps a small emergency recovery copy of project data where possible. It is size-limited, can fail when storage is full and does not replace the original media or a .pmproj archive.
For an empty library, check the address and profile before importing or deleting anything. For missing media, reimport the original file and select it again in the affected look or song lane, or restore a known-good archive. See Before a show.
